The 2nd China-ASEAN International Seminar on Media and Journalism & Communication Education was held in Guangxi University


On October 14, 2023, the 2nd China-ASEAN International Seminar on Media and Journalism & Communication Education was held at Guangxi University, hosted by Guangxi University, organized by the School of Journalism and Communication of Guangxi University, the Research Center for ASEAN Media and China-ASEAN Regional Communication of Guangxi University, and co-sponsored by the School of Journalism and Communication of South China University of Technology (SCUT), and the Institute of International Communication Research of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao-Gulf Area of SCUT.

This seminar is also one of the sub-forums of the First China-ASEAN Regional Cooperation and Development Forum of Guangxi University. Experts and scholars from seven ASEAN countries and domestic universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Zhejiang University, Xiamen University, South China University of Technology, Dalian University of Foreign Languages, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Xiamen Institute of Science and Technology gathered to discuss the experience and practice of teaching international communication education, the development and strategy of media communication, and the prospect and path of building a China-ASEAN community of destiny in China and ASEAN countries.

More than 120 experts, scholars, master and doctoral students from 30 universities, research institutes, and media organizations at home and abroad attended the conference. Yin Jian, Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Journalism and Communication of Guangxi University, presided over the opening ceremony. Wang Shiyong, dean of the School of Journalism and Communication of Guangxi University, and Cao Xiaojie, deputy dean of the School of Journalism and Communication of South China University of Technology, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.

It is reported that the First China-ASEAN Regional Cooperation and Development Forum of Guangxi University invited leaders and representatives of the CPC Central Committee Foreign Liaison Department, the Chinese and Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education, and departments of the autonomous region such as the Department of Education, the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Water Resources, and the ASEAN countries in Yong Consulate General, as well as nearly 500 domestic and foreign experts and scholars to participate in the meeting. This seminar has provided experience and inspiration for further promoting the research on key issues between China and ASEAN, and promoting the cooperation in teaching, scientific research and practice between journalism and communication faculties in China and ASEAN countries.
